Nosotros después de las doce

Después de Heima, sólo podía esperar maravillas del nuevo libro de la fantástica Laia Soler. Para mí, una enamorada de Andorra, este libro ha supuesto un gozo desde la primera página hasta la última línea. Debido a la información que pude recibir en la presentación del libro en Barcelona, decidí que ésta era una lectura perfecta para leer a principios de verano, después de finalizar los exámenes y antes de empezar a trabajar.

No dudé en hincarle el diente en cuanto acabé Emma (Jane Austen) y, desde el primer capítulo, estuve volando página tras página y, sin darme cuenta, inicié unas vacaciones en Valira. 

La autora logró, sin duda, darle brillo a la simplicidad y al encanto de un pueblo de montaña, así como a sus propias leyendas y tradiciones en las cuales habría deseado formar parte. Además, la magia en este libro está presentada de la forma más especial y única posible, pues reside en el carrusel del pueblo; seamos sinceros, ¿quién no caería rendido ante la belleza y la sensibilidad de un carrusel del siglo XX?

Por último, ¿qué puedo decir de los personajes? Erin, Teo y el abuelo Dubois consiguieron hacerse su propio hueco en mi corazón, y eso es así; aunque, a pesar de todo, debo admitir que Aurora me pareció una magnífica protagonista que presentó una evolución notable a lo largo de la trama. 

En todos los aspectos, me pareció que ha sido un libro del tipo que hace que el lector se sienta bien y se relaje. Doy las gracias por haber tenido la oportunidad de disfrutar de una breve aunque inolvidable estancia en este mágico pueblo al que los feéricos llamaron Valira.

I've just finished reading this book and I'm literally out of words to say. I knew what this book was about before adding it in my tbr list, I knew it couldn't have a happily ever after because it's basically incompatible with the main plot. I just found it interesting because this kind of tragedy doesn't happen in my country (fortunately) and news barely talk about it when there's a shooting at an American high school. 

I felt very attached with some of the characters but I just felt indifferent towards Claire; her point of view was a pain for me, and I just wanted to fly to what the next character had to tell. For some reason, I didn't hate Tyler; I just think his loneliness beat him.

I have to say, all that happened through these pages felt just real. I was really scared when the shooter started killing people around him and the characters kept seeing their friends die. Also, some students tried to inform about their situation on Twitter and the press just kept tweeting them...like, they're desperately asking for help, what the fuck's going on with you. Furthermore, there was a point of view of a student who skipped classes that day and wrote her thoughts in her blog and her readers didn't seem happy at all to see that she skipped classes that day and that she wasn't through the same hell the other students were.

The end  itself was what hurt me the most, I think; imagining all this people remembering the lost ones.

Before finishing this review, I'd like to share a quote of this book:

When we reach the first floor, the hallways are empty. There are only the bodies and the bloodstains and the screams that haunt the school. On our way to the main entrance, we pass the doors to the auditorium, which are wide open now. The seats are empty.

◢ Book Review ◣ ILLUMINAE (The ILLUMINAE Files #1)

I got this book for my birthday, and it suprised me how gorgeous it is. I was a afraid to be disappointed because of all the hype that surrounds this book, I was afraid it wouldn't be for me. 

At the beginning, it felt weird to read files and interviews. I was like "C'mon, give me the real story!" but soon I realized I would have to change the way I expected this book to be into the way it actually was; and I'm glad I did it. What I liked the most, at the beginning, were the conversations between Ezra and Jimmy. I also enjoyed the ones between Ezra and Kady and how they kept in touch after the invasion. Every page is gorgeous, every page is worth it. I have to say, though, that my favourite character is the AIDAN itself. I love how this machine evolved until reaching a level of humanity that nobody ever imagined it would have. 

I wouldn't say this is just a book. This is a piece of art that should be put in a glass cabinet and be preserved forever. If you want to read something unique, this book may be for you. Now, I know it was for me.

◢ Book Review ◣ Amy & Roger's Epic Detour - Amy y Roger: 5000 Kilómetros para enamorarse

I discovered this book nearly a year ago but I never felt in the mood to get it and read it, until now. Just before my finals week I decided to pick this book up to read it during my spare time (I'm kind of a kamikaze, I know). Must say I don't regret this decision; in a few days I've read one of the best books I've ever read. The story, even though it's simple, feels magnificient and exciting; as a reader, I feel I've been traveling through the US with them. I think all the minor characters are adorable, I've loved every single one of them, even Walcott! (except Hadley, she's kind of an asshole). What can I say about Bronwyn? Well, I've never read about such a generous character until now.

I loved this book since the beginning; I can say it's a great "feel-good" story.

Ya hace, más o menos un año, desde que descubrí este libro, pero nunca había encontrado la ocasión para hacerme con él. Justo antes de empezar la semana de los exámenes finales del semestre en la universidad, decidí encargarlo para, así, poder leerlo en mis pocos ratos libres de esos días (soy un poco kamikaze, lo sé). Debo decir que no me arrepiento para nada de esta decisión; en pocos días he leído uno de los mejores libros de mi vida. La historia, en su sencillez, resulta magnífica y emocionante; como lectora, he sentido que he viajado por los Estados Unidos junto a ellos. Los personajes secundarios que van apareciendo son todos entrañables, me he encariñado con todos y cada uno de ellos, ¡hasta con Walcott! (Excepto Hadley, no he llegado a tragar a esta chica.) ¿Y qué debo decir de Bronwyn? En mi vida había leído sobre un personaje tan generoso.
Este libro ha sido de los únicos que, justo a las primeras páginas, ya me había conquistado; afortunadamente, se trata de una historia que, con sólo leerla, te hace sentir bien.
